Ryan Crenshaw's guitar strumming has the feel of flowing water: smooth, constant, always moving toward some unknown destination. So it's no surprise then that Ryan spends most of his life on the river: he's been a raft guide on the James for over 16 years, and is currently working on a project to digitally map all of America's rivers (terrain360.com). When he's not out in nature, he's usually doing something with music. He regularly joins local bands throughout the area, and runs his own guitar repair shop on the side. If Thoreau is right in saying that experience is the best teacher, and that exposure to nature helps reveal truths we would otherwise miss in our everyday lives, then Ryan is perhaps one of his most advanced pupils. We're incredibly excited he'll be bringing his unique sound to the banks of Upper Shirley!
